Originally founded as CODETEL in 1930. In 2007, América Móvil acquired Verizon Dominicana / CODETEL and later rebranded it fully to Claro. Claro Dominicana is both an ISP and Network Operator, selling Internet (fixed and mobile), TV, and voice services to consumers and operating its own mobile and fixed-network infrastructure, including fibre and mobile (3G / LTE / 5G). In 2022, Claro announced a major infrastructure-investment plan: expanding 5G, laying 230 km of new fibre to reach 120,000 new homes/businesses (Source), (Source), (Source).
