Cox Communications began when Cox Enterprises entered the cable TV business in 1962; it was formally named "Cox Communications" in 1982. Cox is both an ISP and Network Operator, selling broadband, phone, TV, and security services directly to consumers and owning and operating its own cable infrastructure across many U.S. markets. In 2021, acquired Segra's commercial enterprise and carrier business. In July 2023, completed acquisition of Unite Private Networks (UPN). As of its fact sheet, Cox serves ~7 million homes and businesses across 18 U.S. states. Cox is a wholly owned subsidiary of Cox Enterprises (Source), (Source), (Source), (Source).
