Korea Telecom (KT Corporation) is an ISP and Network Operator that owns and operates nationwide full-fibre, copper, and satellite broadband infrastructure while selling high-speed internet, mobile, fixed-line telephony, and IPTV bundles directly to residential and business consumers across South Korea since its founding on December 10, 1981, as the state-owned Korea Telecommunications Authority, with major milestones including privatization in 2002, acquisition of Thrunet in 2001 for broadband dominance, merger with wireless subsidiary KTF in 2009 to create a comprehensive telecom giant, commercialization of 10 Gbit/s broadband in 2018, first 5G standalone launch in 2021, acquisition of Epsilon Telecommunications in 2021, and a 2024 deal to supply $450 million in network infrastructure to Microsoft (Source), (Source).
