MakTel, officially Makedonski Telekom AD Skopje, is an ISP and Network Operator that owns and operates the national fixed copper and full-fibre infrastructure while selling high-speed broadband (up to 1 Gbit/s symmetric), fixed/mobile telephony, and IPTV services directly to residential and business consumers across North Macedonia since its formal establishment on January 1, 1997, as a state-owned spin-off from PTT Makedonija, with major milestones including the launch of the country's first GSM mobile service as MobiMak in September 1996, privatization via 51% acquisition by a Deutsche Telekom-led consortium for €110.5 million on January 15, 2001, merger of T-Mobile Macedonia into the parent entity on July 1, 2015, and rebranding from dual T-Home/T-Mobile to unified Telekom in September 2015; the organization continues to operate independently in its current state as a majority-owned subsidiary of Magyar Telekom (under Deutsche Telekom Group) as of November 2025 with no reported acquisitions or dissolutions (Source), (Source), (Source).
