Manx Telecom is an ISP and Network Operator that owns and operates the Isle of Man's sole fixed copper and full-fibre infrastructure while selling high-speed broadband (up to 1 Gbit/s symmetric), fixed/mobile telephony, and data centre services directly to residential and business consumers island-wide since its founding on January 1, 1987, as a British Telecom subsidiary to win the government's 20-year telecom licence tender, with major milestones including the first European live 3G network launch in December 2001, acquisition by Telefónica in 2006, sale to HgCapital for £158.8 million in 2010, AIM market float in 2014, purchase by Basalt Infrastructure Partners for £255.9 million in 2019, selection as preferred partner for the National Broadband Plan in 2020 with £10 million government funding for FTTP rollout to 99% of premises by end-2025, and a pending acquisition by a CVC DIF and Jersey Telecom (JT) joint venture announced in October 2025 expected to close in Q4 2025 for enhanced cross-Crown Dependencies operations; the organization continues to operate independently in its current state as of November 2025 with no completed dissolution (Source), (Source), (Source), (Source).
