MEO - Serviços de Comunicações e Multimédia, S.A. is an ISP and Network Operator that owns and operates extensive FTTH fiber-optic and copper infrastructure while selling high-speed broadband (up to 1 Gbps symmetric), fixed/mobile telephony, pay TV, and bundled services directly to residential consumers and businesses nationwide in Portugal (serving ~3 million fixed broadband and ~5 million mobile subscribers) since its launch as a unified brand in 2007 by Portugal Telecom to converge fixed and mobile operations, with major milestones including pilot FTTH triple-play rollout in Lisbon in 2007, full TMN mobile integration in 2014, acquisition of PT Portugal by Altice in 2015 for €7.4 billion enabling aggressive network expansions, creation of Fastfiber JV in 2020 for wholesale FTTH (4 million homes passed initially, now ~6 million), and 5G commercial launch in 2020; the organization continues to operate independently under Altice Portugal (rebranding efforts to emphasize MEO over Altice announced in January 2025 amid group scandals) in its current state as of November 2025 with no reported dissolutions (Source), (Source), (Source), (Source).
