(formerly SoftBank Mobile Corp.) is an ISP and Network Operator that builds and owns its own fiber-optic backbone (acquired via Japan Telecom in 2004 with 12,000 km infrastructure) and coaxial networks while selling fixed broadband (SoftBank Hikari), mobile, telephony, and pay-TV services directly to residential and business consumers nationwide; founded as SoftBank Mobile in 2006 via $15B acquisition of Vodafone Japan, rebranded to SoftBank Corp. in 2015 after merging fixed-line assets, with major milestones including aggressive DSL expansion via Yahoo!
