SSE Broadband (also known as SSE Energy Broadband) was a retail-only ISP that belonged to SSE plc, an energy utility which expanded into internet and home-phone services in the 2000s/2010s. SSE Broadband did not own its own physical nationwide network infrastructure; instead it resold broadband over established network infrastructure provided by Openreach (FTTC and FTTP). In January 2020, SSE plc sold its household energy and broadband business to OVO Energy.
